Patients have the right to:
Be offered a health check on joining the practice.
Receive appropriate drugs and medicines.
Be referred for specialist or second opinion if the GP agrees.
Have the right to view their medical records, subject to the Data Protection Acts. These will be kept confidential at all times.
Be treated as an individual and be given courtesy, dignity and respect at all times regardless of your age, gender and race. You have the right to be treated confidentially.
On registering as a new patient be offered a health check with the nurse or health care assistant.
Be given a time at which the doctor or nurse hopes to be able to see you in accordance with the system used in the practice. If there is a substantial delay for any reason, you will be given an explanation.
