If you are thinking of travelling to foreign countries then you may require vaccinations. Make an appointment to see the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. Please let the nurse know what countries and areas with the countries that you are intending to visit to determine what vaccinations are required.
It is very important to make your initial appointment as early as possible as a second appointment will be required with the nurse for you to actually have the required vaccinations. We recommend you make your first appointment at least six weeks before travelling, this gives us time to order your vaccines as they are not kept in stock.
Another factor to consider is you need to have the vaccines at least two weeks before travelling, which gives the vaccines time to work.
Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines time to work.
Please be aware that some travel vaccines are only available on a private prescription. This means there will be a charge on top of the normal prescription charge. Not all vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
